· A good way to learn your words is the following for each word:
· Copy the word – Read – Cover – Spell – Check if correct.
· Practice your words in your Homework book

Current Events:
1. Choose an article from either:
The Southland Times
Southland Express/The Eye
Kiwi kids news website (the link is on this blog under 'Great Learning Websites'
2. Write these headings in your Homework Book:
Who:
What:
Where:
When:
Why:
How:
3. Read your chosen article and take the key words and details from the article and place by each heading. Remember you need ALL of the key facts and information.
4. Now write your own article based on the facts you recorded. It needs to be re-written in your own words and must contain enough information so the audience fully understands your article. It should be around 3-4 paragraphs long. (Remember - your opening sentence should introduce the article)
5. Give the article a new headline and include a photo/picture. It can be the one used in the article or you can find a new one that represents the article appropriately.
You may wish to do a draft of your article in your Homework book so you can revise and edit your writing to create an attention grabbing article!
